Approach

From the parking area (34.55409, -111.45422) head west down the ravine for approximately .33 miles where you will meet with the upper stretch of the canyon (34.55412, -111.45851).

Descent

The upper section of the canyon is mostly class 3 with a couple of class 4 down climbs. The 1st rappel is optional as there is a bypass to the right with a short down climb on a log. Rap 1: Approximately 80' into a section of narrows.  Rap 2: Approximately 50' down a two tiered wall. Rap 3: Approximately 20' into a water hole with a float followed immediately by another 50' rappel. Link these two rappels as one. Raps 1, 2, and, 3 are in quick succession of each other. After the 3rd rap there will be a narrow chimney that can be down climbed with a handline and stemming. Rap 4: Approximately 50' into the confluence with West Clear Creek.

Exit

When the canyon opens up to West Clear Creek make a right and follow the West Clear Creek for approximately .32 miles. On the right is a concealed trail at (34.56198, -111.45438). This exit is known as the sneak route. The trail is faint in places and route finding skills are required. Once you crest the main canyon there will be a road. Follow the road uphill back to the parking area.
